Bookmarks are an essential part of a bookworms life. If you dog-ear a page, just because you don't have a bookmark or simply lazy then I insist you run fast. Because the bookworm who lent you the book will definitely kill you without remorse. Or else they'll break your friendship. History has seen many incidents like this. Dog-earring a book is one of the greatest sins in the world of books. I advise you to use a bookmark or bear the consequences. Even a proper bookworm could lose a bookmark. Because bookmarks are hexed to vanish when we all need it most. Here are four things that aren't bookmarks but totally worth it when you need one.
OLD CLASSWORK NOTE
I know you have concentrated and took notes with utter sincerity or doodled in a boring class. What's better than recycling those used notebooks? If you lose your bookmark, you can tear an adequate size of paper and use it as a bookmark till you find/buy one. Plus, you can LOL by looking at your doodle or funny notes in those bits.
PAPERCLIPS
Paperclips can act as great alternatives for bookmarks. And importantly, they can't vanish easily like slippery bookmarks. You can also DIY these clips for fun and match your book cover. But you have to be careful while using paper clips as they might tear the pages of a book quickly.
LEAVES AND FLOWERS
This may sound daft but think about it. You are reading in a park under a tree and "Puff" your bookmark has magically vanished into thin air. You can't possibly think of folding the page, can you? Leave and flowers can aid you here in this situation. Using these may also give your book a natural fragrance. But make sure you switch the leaves with bookmark as days go, some leaves tend to leave an imprint on the page.
DRESS TAG
Have you noticed those thick cardboard-like pieces in your brand-new clothes? If you have, you could have come across some beautifully designed dress tags. These tags are sturdy and compact making them a distant cousin of bookmarks. Some may be a little bendy buy who cares? At least you are recycling!
